Pathways to SEASR
March 6-7, 2009

Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI) at the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

The UNC Institute for the Arts and Humanities (IAH) and Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI) are pleased to welcome the SEASR group from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, to Chapel Hill, NC. During this two-day workshop, representatives from SEASR will provide an overview of the software, and representatives from both institutions will explore opportunities for collaboration.

What is SEASR?
The Software Environment for the Advancement of Scholarly Research (SEASR) is a software engineering project, funded by the Mellon Foundation, that is leveraging the latest informatics research to innovate essential technology for the humanities. Visit www.seasr.org for more information.

Workshop Structure
The workshop will include informational sessions and breakout sessions, all of which will take place in the RENCI facilities. The IAH will post an agenda when it is available on this Web site.

On Friday, March 6, the program will focus on informational sessions about SEASR. The day’s events will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Participants are invited to explore Chapel Hill Friday evening and experience one of our local restaurants.

On Saturday, March 7, the program will comprise breakout sessions to explore opportunities for collaboration. The sessions will start at 9:00 a.m., and participants should be free to go by 2:00 or 3:00 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
